Riverside

Riverside is a town of 1,200 residents. Established in 1882 as Readmon, the town was renamed and incorporated as Riverside in 1886. For years, it was the county's largest industrial center. In 1964, the main part of town was raised over 14 feet to allow for construction of the Logan Martin Dam. For more information, visit the Town of Riverside Website.

Historical Sites
  • Bukacek House on River Street was built in 1872
  • Coleman Cemetery on Cemetery Road was founded in 1841
  • Coleman House on Coleman Avenue was built in 1848
  • Morris House on Morris Street was built in 1876
  • Old River Bridge, built in as a part of the Bankhead Highway, has the classic structure of bridges built during that era

  • A town park and playground offers picnicking, recreation space, walking track, and a ball field

  • Fishing and boating are popular sports on the Logan Martin backwaters
