ONLINE TAG and PROPERTY TAX RENEWAL
Your St Clair County Probate Office is offering more convenience through our new secure online renewal system. The probate office has partnered with IMS Enterprises to provide you a way to renew your Auto and Boat tags along with Manufactured Housing, conveniently from your computer. Please see special notes below on expired renewals and special tag issues.
This online renewal will have a small charge (this charge is to the credit card company and the credit card processing company not the St Clair County Probate office, see charges below) and will allow you to renew your tags at your convenience. This will help save you time and gas. You can renew 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This will be for renewals only. If you have a new purchase or registration, or you have personal information that has changed (i.e. name, address etc) you will still have to come to one of the St Clair County Probate offices located in Ashville and Pell City.

If your renewal is past the expiration date, you will have to renew it in person. Expired renewals cannot be processed online.

The following is the list of tags that the customer must come into the office to renew with the appropriate papers or ID's.

National Guard Active - Guard identification card and affidavit signed by unit commander.

National Guard Retired - Proper identification card and NGB Form 22 or Notice of Eligibility for Retired Pay at Age 60.

Fire Fighter - Letter on Fire Dept. letter head and signed by the Chief.

Fraternal Order of Police - FOP identification card.

Amateur Radio - FCC License.

Active Reservist - AR Identification card/Affidavit signed by unit commander.

Disabled Veteran - Letter from the Department of Veterans Affairs showing percentage of disability.
We are using the latest offerings in technology to better serve you.
Rates for online renewal:
$3.50 for one renewal and will receive a discount for multiple renewals in a shopping cart or 3% of the total cost, whichever is greater
Rates at Counter:
$2.50 per tag with a $5.00 maximum or 3% whichever is greater. Driver License $2.50 per license.
Recording $2.50 each document or 3% whichever is greater. Boats $2.50 each or 3% whichever is greater.
Remember these charges are charged by the credit card company and the credit card processing company and none of the money in these charges goes to the Probate Office. Thank You
